1st GUITAR MEETING OF TURKEY

The classical guitar students taken part in the activity organized by the Classical Guitar Society with the contributions of the Municipality of Çankaya and the Romanian Embassy participated in panels, concerts and master classes.

The activity organized for the purposes of finding out by increasing communication and co-operation the solutions exercised among educational institutions hosted the guests from Poland and Romania in addition to the students from Ankara, İstanbul, İzmir, Niğde, Mersin, Antalya, İstanbul, Denizli, Bolu, Eskişehir and Şanlıurfa.

MAGDELENA FROM POLAND

Magdelena Sevement, the Poland student come in Anatolian University within the scope of the Socretes-Erasmus Student Exchange Program supported by the European Union (EU) noted that the activity organized by Bilkent University has made an outstanding contribution to her education.

Sevement explaining that she feels great happiness in meeting with musicians from different places of Turkey said “Poland and Turkey are the countries having cultures so much different from each other however all of us are talking here with the mutual language of art. I love Turkish music so much. I also will find opportunity to know it intimately in the course of time I stay in Turkey. I was impressed very much from the students I have met here. Turkish students are so brilliant, they play very fast. I believe that the master classes realized within the scope of activity were fruitfully.”

The “1st Guitar Meeting” organized in Ankara gathered young musicians who has grown up in different cultures from Poland to Şanlıurfa but fall in love with the same instrument.

CEYHUN FROM ŞANLIURFA

Ceyhun Ulu, the senior student of Anatolian Fine Arts High School of Şanlıurfa qualified that the 1st Guitar Days of Turkey he participated as a result of orientation of his teachers was a very important step for him and his education viewpoint.

Ulu continued by underlining the point that the classical music and the education of guitar in Turkey are not known enough saying “Pop music is flashed generally when a guitar is pronounced in Şanlıurfa. Such performances are played and listened all the time. Meanwhile, the activity I participated in was very useful for me. I saw that the fellows in very small ages have played fairly difficult performances successfully. I’m planning coming back to Şanlıurfa and working hard.”

Ulu saying that he is in difficulty to access musical notes and similar materials relating the performances necessary for education of classical music said that he took telephone numbers and e-mail addresses from his friends, and that they would try to help each other on this matter.

Ulu mentioning that they, during activity, participated in the masters’ classes in which Ahmet Kanneci and Liviu Georgescu were among them said “My dream is to be a musician as Ahmet Kanneci. He is from Urfa, too”

Mircea Stefan, 14-year old guitarist, deemed as one of successful youngsters of Romania in the field of music, and won honours in international competitions also participate in the 1st Guitar Meeting of Turkey organized by Bilkent University.
